ABSTRACT

Warehouses have several important functions, but the two most important are temporary storage of goods until their further use in production or distribution, and preservation of its quality. In order to achieve these objectives, it is necessary to arrange the goods within the warehouse into zones, and to determine the capacity and the number of zones, the size of the warehouses, the number of docks, the level of warehouse occupancy and more. Efficient organization of storage space is a complex problem, which requires the adoption of many related decisions, which may be strategic, tactical and operational, depending on the time period in which they are made. In order to make a organization of warehouse space eficient, we use reliable information from various quantitative methods. These methods aim to facilitate and direct management in the warehouse. The aim of this study is to define the basic principles and methods that help management companies in the efficient management of the space and warehouse processes.
